November 20, 2010 - Skidmore College
The Skidmore College riding team continued its winning streak with a home victory on November 20th. The Thoroughbreds currently lead their region by 49 points, which is equivalent to a full show.
Pointed riders Flavia D'Urso ('13), Kelly Campbell ('12), Calla Dobmeyer ('11), Julia Mazzarella ('13), Alexandra McGuire ('11), Lucy Campbell ('13) and Marissa McCullogh ('13) all won their classes, giving Skidmore their second perfect score of the season.
Amanda Werner ('11) qualified for the regional championships, which will be hosted by Skidmore on April 2nd, 2011. Werner will compete in novice on the flat.
Other class winners for the Thoroughbreds were Olivia Cameron ('13), Kaitlin Swartwood ('11), Molly Parker ('12), Maria Lorenc ('11), and Alexandria Dorgan ('14).
Cameron rode against Morrisville State College's Teal Pederson and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Alicia Hlavac for High Point Rider.
The Thoroughbreds' next competition is the Tournament of Champions. Skidmore riders will compete against the top equestrian teams in the country at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, North Carolina on Dec. 4.

November 13/14, 2010 - Morrisville State College
The Skidmore College Equestrian Team had a successful weekend November 13th and 14th, winning both days of the doubleheader hosted by Morrisville State College. The Thoroughbreds scored 45 points each day, extending their lead to 39 points in Zone II, Region 3.
Chelsea Jones ('12) and Hanae Kimura ('11) both qualified for the regional championships, which will be hosted by Skidmore on April 2nd, 2011. Jones qualified in Intermediate Fences and Kimura will compete in Novice Flat.
Saturday winners for the Thoroughbreds include Flavia D'Urso ('13), Olivia Cameron ('13), Chelsea Jones ('12), Maggie Luckhardt ('12), Alexandra McGuire ('11), Madeline Frank ('13), Kyle Olson ('14), and Megan Merritt ('11). Merritt is batting 1000, with four straight wins this season. Olson's win was her IHSA debut.
Jones, who won both her classes on Saturday, competed for high point rider for the day. In the ride-off for top honors, Jones received reserve champion.
On Sunday, host Morrisville put pressure on Skidmore, finishing with 43 points to the Thoroughbred's 45 points. Skidmore claimed victory in the last class of the day, Walk-Trot. Kayla Kleinman ('14) rode beautifully to win the blue, earning the Thoroughbreds the seven points they needed to win.
Flavia D'Urso ('13) and Emory Wonham ('13) competed for high point rider against three other high scoring riders. In the competitive ride-off, D'Urso won reserve champion. Morrisville's Teal Pedersen took top honors.
Other Sunday winners for the Thoroughbreds were Olivia Cameron ('13), Elinor Hayden ('14), Sandrine Couldwell ('13), Lucile Campbell ('13), Chelsey Muroda ('11), and Megan Merritt ('11).
The Thoroughbreds will host their second home show of the season Saturday, November 20th. This show will close out the fall season for the Thoroughbreds.

October 30, 2010 - Hartwick College
The Skidmore College Thoroughbreds won their second show of the season at Hartwick College on October 30th. The Thoroughbreds lead second place Morrisville State College by six points.
Pointed, winning riders were Kelly Campbell ('12), Julia Mazzarella ('13), Chelsea Jones ('12), Megan Merritt ('11), and Cecilia Culp ('11). Other pointed riders were Hanae Kimura ('11), who placed second, Flavia D'Urso ('13), finishing third, and Sandrine Couldwell ('13), who took home a fourth place. Campbell, who won both her Open Fences and Open Flat classes, rode off with Morrisville's Rachel Kenney and Colgate's Emily Messing and was declared High Point Rider for the day.
Other class winners for the Thoroughbreds were Olivia Cameron ('13), Amanda Werner ('11), and Maria Lorenc ('11). The Skidmore Equestrian Team competes again at the Morrisville double-header November 13 and 14.

October 23, 2010 - Skidmore College
Skidmore's 2010 National Champion Equestrian Team got off to a 'perfect' start at home on Saturday, October 23rd at the first Zone 2 Region 3 horse show. The team scored a "perfect" 49 points, the maximum number possible for a win.
Pointed, winning riders were Flavia D'Urso ('13), Kelly Campbell ('12), Chelsea Jones ('12), Hanae Kimura ('11), Megan Merritt ('11), and Kayla Kleinman ('14). Both Merritt and Kleinman were in their IHSA debut. Jones won two blue ribbons for the Skidmore team, tying for High Point Rider for the day.
Other class winners were Olivia Cameron ('13), Kaitlin Swartwood ('11), Alexandra McGuire ('11), Michelle Bakker ('12), and Julia Mazzarella ('13). After placing first in Open Fences, Cameron completed her IHSA debut with a second on the flat.
Skidmore College finished in first place at the end of the first show of the 2010-2011 season. Tied for second were Morrisville State College and SUNY Cobleskill. Colgate University and Hartwick College took fourth and fifth place honors respectively, and U Albany, Siena, and RPI tied for 6th place honors. SUNY Oneonta finished in 9th place. The Skidmore Equestrian Team competes again on Saturday, October 30th at Hartwick College.
